TIP Group reduced CO2 emissions by 15%, in collaboration with Goodyear

20 years of partnership. Measurable fleet results.

How TIP Group Europe South improved fleet efficiency, increased retreading by 50%, reduced CO₂ emissions by 15% and cut tyre-related incidents by 14% with Goodyear.

Challenge: TIP Group is a European leader in the leasing and maintenance of industrial vehicles, managing more than 90,000 vehicles. As market conditions and regulatory requirements continue to change, sustainability has become an increasingly important focus of the partnership. TIP Group wanted to maintain consistent tyre performance. Across such a large and diverse fleet, that means balancing multiple priorities: controlling costs, improving sustainability, all without compromising fleet efficiency or road user safety. TIP Group Mediterranean aimed to further optimise its operations while continuing to reduce its environmental footprint.

Solution: TIP Group introduced KMAX GEN-3 tyres across Europe, taking advantage of the tyre’s excellent fuel efficiency and sustainability credentials. On a more local level, TIP Group’s South Europe region addressed these challenges with a staggered rollout across three countries (France, Italy, and Spain). It focused on optimising the management of retreaded tyre inventories as well as unifying its IT interface directly with Goodyear.

Result: Three years into the Goodyear partnership across France, Italy, and Spain, TIP Group’s South Europe region achieved a 50% increase in retreading rate and a 15% reduction in CO₂ emissions whilst recording a 14% decrease in tyre-related incidents.

A 20-year partnership

For 20 years, Goodyear and TIP have had a close and constructive collaboration, with a 5-year extension recently announced. Over the years, the 2 companies have worked well together, exemplifying the potential of a"partnership built for performance.

“Our partnership with Goodyear perfectly illustrates our commitment to sustainable performance. By combining operational excellence and environmental responsibility, we demonstrate that it is possible to control costs while reducing our carbon footprint, without any compromise on road user safety. This strong collaboration, based on trust and mutual listening, allows us to provide our customers with superior service quality and meet their specific expectations while respecting our CSR commitments.”

While the 20-year partnership has proven very strong, the transportation sector has also significantly changed in that time. Changing market conditions and regulatory requirements have continued to change, necessitating a shift in focus. Where once mileage was the name of the game, now fleets require much more: sustainability, fuel efficiency, cost control. All without compromising operational efficiency, customer value, or road safety, of course.

KMAX GEN-3

The first step to reach those goals? Find brand-new, sustainable, fuel-efficient tyres. And it just so happens that Goodyear has the perfect candidate: the KMAX GEN-3.

KMAX GEN-3

The third generation of Goodyear’s KMAX range reimagines what a mileage-focused tyre can be. It delivers the mileage that is a hallmark for the KMAX range, but also delivers the fuel efficiency demanded by modern fleets. KMAX GEN-3’s new cap and carcass compound mix minimises the heat generated by the tyre, improving fuel efficiency and extending both the tyre’s mileage and battery range. This efficiency is reflected in its B fuel efficiency label, helping fleets lower operating costs and reduce emissions.

What really convinced TIP that these tyres were the right fit for their fleet was their sustainability credentials: KMAX GEN-3 is made with more than 40% of sustainable materials[1]. In other words, the tyre is truly sustainable from start to finish - and exactly what TIP was looking for.

[1] Goodyear defines a sustainable material as bio-based (originating from biological sources); renewable (composed of replenishable biomass); or recycled (reprocessed from reclaimed materials) material as defined in ISO 14021; or one produced using or contributing to other practices designed to promote resource conservation and/or emissions reductions.

Tailor-made solutions

Introducing KMAX GEN-3 was a big, sustainable step forward for TIP, but for a group as large and widespread as TIP, high-level, group-wide initiatives are only the beginning. The key to smooth operations across an entire continent is targeted solutions for each area, tailored to its unique challenges and strengths.

Take TIP Group’s South Europe region (France, Italy, and Spain), for instance. This area faced a dual challenge: optimising operations while reducing its environmental footprint.

To tackle this, they reached out to Goodyear, starting a collaboration to support TIP’s partners in accelerating the transition to smarter, safer, and more sustainable transport. The rollout positions France as pilot and innovation hub, Spain as E-Job digital pioneer, and Italy as high-volume operations scale model.

Goodyear’s expertise enabled the co-construction of practical solutions based on a comprehensive, end-to-end approach to tyre management. In addition to the introduction of Goodyear’s new KMAX GEN-3 tyres, the program also optimised management of retreaded tyre inventories, positioned close to operational hubs to ensure maximum availability, reduce intervention times, and limit carbon footprint.

“This partnership is built on trust, long-term thinking and a deep understanding of the transport fleet market. For 20 years, we have worked closely with TIP Group to deliver reliable products, innovative fleet solutions and retreading services that help keep their customers moving. Extending our agreement for another five years reflects our shared commitment to performance, efficiency and sustainability - and to continuously evolving together as market expectations change.”

At the same time, a shared IT interface between TIP Group and Goodyear was deployed, enabling transparent, reliable, and real-time monitoring of fleet performance, thereby facilitating decision-making and operational management. Finally, continuous technical and operational support ensures optimised tyre management at every stage of its lifecycle.

The first results were visible from the first year, with collaboration tailored to each country’s specific characteristics — network maturity, business requirements — while guided by a common objective: improving performance and reducing environmental impact

The results are clear and measurable: the retreading rate increased by 50% between 2023 and 2025, CO₂ emissions decreased by 15% in 2025, and incidents dropped by 14%, alongside a marked improvement in operational efficiency and safety.

A collaboration, grounded in trust and open dialogue.

A collaboration, grounded in trust and open dialogue.

Together, these results confirm the effectiveness of the program and its ability to be deployed reliably and sustainably across Europe. The collaboration between Goodyear and TIP Group is a model partnership serving more reliable and sustainable mobility.

“Our collaboration with Goodyear is a strong example of how strategic partnerships can create real value for fleet operators. Managing more than 90,000 trucks, trailers and specialised assets across Europe means reliability is critical, which is why we value long-term partners like Goodyear. By combining high-performance tires and mobility solutions with our operational experience, we deliver more efficient and more sustainable fleet solutions – and ultimately more value for our customers.”
