Corporate Social Responsibility

Driving towards a cleaner, better world

Goodyear has continued commitment to ethical and sustainable processes, materials and programmes that can help people, communities and the environment. Our commitment is based on the four pillars established of the Better Future corporate responsibility framework:

Sustainable Sourcing: Sustainable sourcing is Goodyear’s approach to responsibly sourcing materials used for operations and products. In 2021 Goodyear's total sustainable oil usage in place of petroleum-based oils increased by 27%. The long-term goal of full petroleum oil replacement in all products by 2040 remains in place.

Responsible Operations: Operating in a responsible manner worldwide leads to protecting our people, our customers, our planet, our company and our good name. Goodyear works to reduce energy through zero-loss thinking and equipment efficiency, led by global, regional and plant engineering teams. Through these efforts, Goodyear has reduced global energy intensity by 18% versus the 2010 baseline. This drive to reduce energy consumption also benefits the GHG emissions reduction goal, contributing to a 24% reduction of GHG emissions in Goodyear operations since 2010.

Advanced Mobility: Goodyear’s innovative spirit and drive for excellence puts the company at the epicenter of the mobility revolution. Goodyear is working closely with customers and other innovators to shape this transformation. In 2021 the ElectricDrive GT was introduced, Goodyear's first replacement tire in North America tuned for electric vehicles. This ultra-high-performance, all-season tire delivers long-lasting tread wear and a quiet ride for drivers and passengers.

Inspiring Culture: Engaging and enabling associates to realize their full potential is one of the core tenants of the Goodyear Strategy Roadmap. Goodyear’s commitment to fostering an inclusive workforce is represented through eight Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) that boast 32 global chapters with more than 3,300 associates. In 2021, new chapters of the established ERGs were added including Australia/New Zealand GWN and NextGen Shanghai.

FAQ

Tyre lines focused on fuel efficiency, like FUELMAX, are a good first step to reduce environmental impact. Moreover, with our TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System) or DOR (Drive-Over-Reader) solutions, we can reduce fuel consumption through the optimisation of tyre pressure. Finally, regrooving and retreading tyres allows our customers to extend tyre life.

Yes. All our truck tyres are regroovable and retreadable, which allow us to extend their useful life.

There are many elements impacting the total footprint. From Goodyear we are assessing fleets to optimise all tyre-related elements that will help to reduce their impact on the environment.

Yes. Provided the tyre casing is of sufficient quality, we can apply a retread that can deliver a performance similar to new tyres. You can find more details in our section on Retreading and Regrooving.
