2 stolen tractors recovered

Efficiency, digitization and security - that is what we stand for at Meyer-Koldingen.

So we can well believe that the tyre pressure monitoring system presents an additional decisive advantage and fits right in with our corporate strategy.

Successful side effect: a stolen articulated lorry carrying high quality machinery was able to be located and secured by the system.

"Ultimately the purpose of the TPMS is to prevent flat tyres. The wireless connection between tyre data, the vehicle and the owner has paid off in every respect."

Resource Strategy

The TPMS comes with many advantages: “In the first place, naturally the reduction of tyre failures on the road, in our case up to 80% - an unbeatable argument, no question. We have been able to reduce the costs of tyre emergency services accordingly.”

The TPMS also makes the work of the driver and our fleet management easier. And not least, effective tyre management is easier on the environment - the life cycle of each individual tyre was able to be extended through the analysis of the data. We are certified under DIN 14001 Environmental Management, and therefore keep a close eye on the life cycle of our tyres.

Invaluable Added Value

"A complete articulated lorry was stolen from our depot this year, and with it two new tractors! All location systems were deactivated immediately by the installed jamming transmitters.

But we were lucky: the thieves hadn't seen the TCU of the Goodyear TPMS system, the on-board router that transmits the data from the tyre sensors to the Goodyear server. And the sensors are mounted directly on the wheels, not visible from the outside. So we were able to use the TCU to locate our property together with the valuable freight."

Artur Ulmer, General Manager and also responsible for the digitization strategy of the transport specialist is thrilled with the unexpected added value. “Ultimately the purpose of the TPMS is to prevent flat tyres. The wireless connection between tyre data, the vehicle and the owner has paid off in every respect.”

Reliability creates trust

"The reliability of the system is decisive for trust in the data and thus also for the acceptance of the application. Our drivers trust the system and use the app for the support of daily fleet management.”

“If there is a need for intervention, the driver receives a push message on his smartphone, and we receive an e-mail in the office, and then we take action! The actual work, the execution and tyre change, is still required though" (laughs).

Data and Artificial Intelligence

“We already receive massive amounts of data every day - GPS data, vehicle and environmental data. So we strive for seamless integration of all data, tractor truck, trailer, tyres, all in one system. That would be optimal. That is my vision. I'm sure that it will soon be possible. Using artificial intelligence we will hopefully be able to predict nearly 100% of the flat tyres and prevent them."
