Truck tyres with a high wet grip rating will stop shorter on wet roads when full brakes are applied.
Truck tyres with a high wet grip rating will stop shorter on wet roads when full brakes are applied.
The EU rating focuses only on one aspect of wet grip – the wet braking performance of the tyre.
Wet grip is rated from A to F:
A = highest rating
F = lowest rating
Rating G is not used.
In an emergency situation, a few metres can make all the difference. Under full braking force, a set of A-rated tyres may stop up to 30% shorter than a set of F-rated tyres. For a typical truck driving at 80 km/h, that translates to a braking distance up to 25m shorter.*
Regardless of which tyres you choose, you should always observe the recommended stopping distances when driving.
*The calculation is based on a typical truck with semi-trailer operating at 40 tonnes GTW. Effects may vary according to the vehicle, driving conditions and test method adopted.
Label values shown are for illustrative purposes only. Values for a certain tyre line/size may vary.
