With the Easter holiday upon us, a period traditionally characterised with a high accident and death rate on our roads, Goodyear South Africa wants to share the following insights and its commitment to a solution.

A high level of anxiety amongst young drivers, manifesting in aggressive behaviour on the road, has emerged as a critical area of concern in Goodyear’s third annual Road Safety Survey. As part of its commitment to understand and address driver safety, Goodyear probed the road behaviour of 6 400 drivers under the age of 25. The survey covered 16 markets (South Africa plus 15 European countries) and was designed to get inside the brain of the young driver and provide some interesting insight into youth on the road.

As South Africans get set for six weeks of increased seasonal travel - tyre manufacturer Goodyear has issued a reminder that correctly inflated tyres can save significantly at the pump and even more. It also promotes safety, even tyre wear, enhances ride comfort and it maximises fuel economy.

In the spirit of a safe and carefree festive season, the best way to prevent on-road hassles like a flat tyre or even a traumatic accident is to take your vehicle for a quick safety check from an expert eye – such as that offered as a free service by countrywide tyre fitment network Hi-Q.

Every year, thousands of motorists across South Africa set off on long, often exhausting journeys without adequate preparation of their vehicles or enough rest. Yet research has shown that badly maintained vehicles and fatigued drivers are two biggest causes of accidents over the festive season. Today Goodyear announced that its first AA-labeled truck tyre will be available on the market soon. In response to the needs of Off-the-Road (OTR) customers and recent developments in equipment, Goodyear is presenting innovative technology at the Intermat 2012 exposition in Paris, France (April 16-21). Hi-Stability technology is the feature of a complete range of tyres for OTR applications, which can increase load capacity by up to 25%. The range offers more than 30 radial tyres developed for machines operating in mines, quarries, construction, ports, recycling and other industries.
