IAA stand model to be sold on eBay for drivers’ health charity
Brussels/ Hanover - Goodyear has built a 1:1 scale LEGO truck for the 2012 IAA Commercial Vehicle show, which takes place in Hanover from September 20 – 27. From October 19 to 29, 2012 the unique model will be auctioned on eBay to benefit the European commercial vehicle drivers' initiative DocStop for Europeans e.V. The German Transport Minister Peter Ramsauer, who supports the campaign, signed the huge model at the IAA.

The Goodyear LEGO truck is one of the most unique exhibits at the IAA Commercial Vehicle show. At 2.5 meters wide, 3.5 meters high, about 2.5 meters long and weighing approximately 740 kilograms, it is among the largest LEGO models in the world. It was built using about 250,000 LEGO bricks, and a total of 410 hours was invested in the planning and construction of the truck. After the show the model, which boasts Goodyear Marathon LHSII+ tires, will be offered for sale on the world's largest online marketplace, eBay (www.ebay.de and http://pages.ebay.de/starsandcharity/). The eBay auction of the Goodyear truck will run for 10 days from October 19 to 29 2012. All the money raised will be donated by Goodyear to DocStop, offering professional drivers medical care while they are traveling. The aim is to provide every truck driver in Europe with quick and easy access to a doctor if needed.
Also the popular German entertainer Jürgen Drews, the 'King of Majorca', who is a supporter of Docstop, signed the LEGO truck on the Goodyear stand during the IAA Commercial Vehicle show.

"I am delighted to support Goodyear with this charity auction for DocStop. It is not easy for truck and bus drivers to get medical help when they are working away from home," said Jürgen Drews as he signed the LEGO truck in Hanover.
"We very consciously decided to support DocStop with this auction. The transport industry’s greatest asset are the drivers, who make sure that goods get from A to B and arrive on time every day. Unfortunately, medical care is not always guaranteed on the road, especially when a driver travels abroad. Thanks to DocStop, professional drivers now have a contact point through which they can get medical help. We are of course very happy to support this organization," said Rupert Kohaupt, Director Commercial Tires, Goodyear Dunlop Tires Germany GmbH.

Thanks to DocStop, European truck and bus drivers who need medical attention can drive directly with their vehicles to a DocStop partner (doctor's surgery, hospital, etc.) or leave the vehicle at a stop point and go to a nearby doctor. Almost all participating doctors have agreed to see professional drivers without long waits. For information on the nearest DocStop partner, drivers should call +49 (0)1805 112 024 or visit www.DocStop-online.eu.
