Spanish tire industry recognises Goodyear’s safety and CO2 emission reduction efforts

Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 and Efficient Grip SUV win “Tires of the year 2012” Award.
Albufeira, Portugal - Goodyear announces today that it has been awarded with the Spanish “Tires of the year 2012” award in recognition of its continuing efforts to promote road safety and reduce environmental impact of its products. This award called “Neumático del año 2012” was organized by “Neumáticos y Macánica Rápida”, a leading Spanish tire publication and the award ceremony was held in Madrid.

Winner in the two most competitive categories

The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 2 was recognised as best product in the Touring Car category by a professional jury composed of retailers, distributors and specialised journalists. They were not only impressed by the outstanding performance of the Goodyear product in both wet and dry braking conditions (resulting from Goodyear’s Active Braking technology), but also by its fuel saving and CO2 emissions reduction characteristics, built on the low rolling resistance of the tire. The Touring Car category was by far the most competitive, with eight entrants. Goodyear first won the award in 2008, in the same category, with the first version of the Eagle F1 Asymmetric tire.
Besides the Touring Car category designed for products in which manufacturers invest most of their promotion and marketing resources, Goodyear was also present in an another category intended specifically for the SUV/4x4. Goodyear’s EfficientGrip SUV tire won the “Neumatico del Año 2012” prize also thanks to the fuel saving capability and reduction of CO2 emissions performance achieved by its product.
